Eze won't make Leeds game as Arsenal miss transfer deadline

Arsenal miss registration deadline as Eberechi Eze debut delayed

Eberechi Eze will not make his Arsenal debut against Leeds United this weekend after the Gunners failed to complete his registration in time.

The 27-year-old England international is on the verge of a £67.5 million ($90.5m) move from Crystal Palace, with reports confirming he underwent a medical on Friday morning. However, the midday registration deadline for Saturday’s Premier League fixtures has now passed, ruling him out of contention for the Leeds clash at the Emirates.

Arsenal hijacked Tottenham’s pursuit of the midfielder earlier this week, with Mikel Arteta pushing hard to secure one of the summer’s most high-profile deals. The transfer is expected to be finalised within the next 48 hours, and Eze could be unveiled as the club’s latest signing over the weekend.

Since joining Palace from Queens Park Rangers in 2020, Eze has made 169 appearances, scoring 40 goals and providing 28 assists. Highly versatile, he has featured as an attacking midfielder, left winger, and central midfielder.

If completed on schedule, Eze’s Arsenal debut may now come in a high-profile showdown against Premier League champions Liverpool on August 31 at Anfield.
