Bayern Munich 6-0 RB Leipzig: Kane hat-trick, Olise brace and Díaz strike fire champions to ruthless opening-day win
Bayern Munich launched their Bundesliga title defence in spectacular fashion with a crushing 6-0 victory over RB Leipzig at the Allianz Arena. Harry Kane stole the headlines with a superb hat-trick, while Michael Olise struck twice and Luis Díaz opened his Bundesliga account on a dominant night for Vincent Kompany’s champions.
The match began untidily, with both sides guilty of errors in possession, but Bayern quickly found their rhythm. Kane’s clever ball nearly set up Konrad Laimer for the opener, only for Peter Gulácsi to deny the Austrian. Moments later, Olise broke the deadlock with a sharp finish from a tight angle, before Díaz doubled the lead by rifling a shot off the underside of the bar. Olise then showcased his flair once again, beating David Raum with a deft touch before calmly slotting home to complete his brace.
Leipzig attempted to respond after the interval, pushing higher up the pitch, but Bayern punished them on the counter. Serge Gnabry’s burst forward led to Díaz releasing Kane, who coolly finished for his first goal of the campaign. The visitors thought they had pulled one back through Antonio Nusa, but the effort was disallowed after a VAR review confirmed a foul in the build-up.
Bayern showed no mercy. Kane added his second with a precise long-range strike before completing his hat-trick by tapping home from Kim Min-jae’s surging run. The England captain’s treble sealed a perfect evening, as the Bavarians ended with six goals and a resounding statement of intent.
Star Performers: Olise dazzled on the wing with two goals and relentless trickery, while Kane underlined his status as Bayern’s talisman with a ruthless hat-trick. For Leipzig, Xavi Simons endured a night to forget, failing to influence proceedings as Bayern overran the midfield.
